Compositionally, I found that the focal point was too centred to add much interest to the piece. The trees on either side as well as the shore of the water on either side had too much of a framing effect that, coupled with the centred focus, made the composition a bit boring to the eye.
I do however love the detail put into the plans and rocks both across the water and on the shore, and the details in all the small sticks and reeds makes this a very realistic-seeming painting.
